Recognizing the Importance of Personal Professional Learning Pathways Within Networked Learning Ecosystems: Being a Connected and Open Learner – Dr. Verena Roberts

About this talk: Learning takes place through multiple learning pathways and in formal and informal contexts. Each learning pathway offers different experiences that shape our learner identity. These learning pathways begin the moment we are born and continue beyond formal education experiences. Some learning pathways are easier and others more challenging.  As a professional educator, it is your responsibility to choose the direction of your personal professional learning. While some opportunities will be offered through your organization or district, there are a plethora of informal, connected, and open learning opportunities that could take you on previously inconceivable learning pathways that challenge your skills and competencies. In this keynote conversation, Verena shares her personal learning experiences and connects those experiences to her recent doctoral research in open educational practices (OEP). She describes how being a part of a networked learning ecosystem, continues to be the most essential part of her professional learning pathway.
